The University of Western Australia was established in 1911 as the state’s first University.
UWA is the only university in Western Australia to belong to the Group of Eight - a coalition of the top research intensive universities in Australia and is also one of only two Australian members of the Worldwide Universities Network - a partnership of 18 research-led universities from Europe, Africa, the America's and Asia Pacific.

UWA is a medium sized university with around 25,000 students. Of this total student population, there are over 4,000 international students. These students come from over 100 different countries from around the world.
